Marv

For those that may not be familiar with you, please the readers who you are and what you do?

Christina

Hey! I am Christina Faith. I am a writer, director, speaker. I classify myself as a creative communicator. That is the best way to describe myself. I co-own Creative Thought Media with my husband Allen. We live in Philadelphia, PA and provided photography, film and publishing to the Tri-State area.

Marv
How long have you been into photography?

Christina
I have been shooting photographs professionally since 2006. When my husband and I began courting I began focusing more on film. He is the photographic genius. My role in photography is posing and second shooting for weddings at this point.

Marv

Can tell the readers some of the people you’ve worked with?

Christina

I have worked with Japhia Life, Trip Lee, Sho Baraka, Atiba Hailisi formerly known as Phien, Stephen Brindle, J. Johnson, Tragic Hero and a host of other artist.

Marv
From your experience, why is it important artist have quality pictures these days?

Christina

Quality visuals are essential to EVERYONE’S advancement in the 21st century. From a fortune 500 company to a new artist if you don’t have GREAT visuals people wont even give you the time of day. I have listened to some of the worse music because the person had a great visual. Visual pull the viewer in. A lot of people don’t get professional photography for there projects. They get there friends who are trying to break into the game a chance to shoot them. Honestly, you get what you pay for. When I was starting out I would do almost anything to work on a project but I wouldn’t advise that today. The standard is higher. You need quality paid for visuals in order to give a proper representation of your work.

Marv

What is your process in preparing for someone photo shoot?

Christina
We first find out what the vision is. If the person desire a specific look, color, or location. We  ask the client to send over some visual ideas of what they are looking for. That helps us a lot. Sometimes we go in blind but normally we have an idea of what we desire to execute and produce.

Marv
Why do artist think they just buy a camera and do their on pictures?

Christina

Honestly, because people are cheap. We have so many people asking what camera we use.

Marv
Should they do that or should invest in getting it done professionally?
It will be done right. We live in the smartphone technology age so everyone thinks because you owe the tools you know how to use it and do it better. What you will find is that people create subpar work. You invest in what you believe in. Unless you plan on spending thousands of dollars and thousands of hours perfecting the craft don’t invest in the equipment. Pay a professional to do it for you and build a relationship so that they learn your style and you can work with them on a consistent bases.

Christina
What are some misconceptions artist may have about doing a photoshoot?
That you will look like Beyonce, Usher and all the other high paid artist in the world for $350. One of the biggest misconceptions is that Beyonce “woke up like this”. It’s the running joke. Beyonce has a glam squad, photographers with 3 assistants and countless people behind the scenes helping her look like that. We always encourage people to get a MUA (Make Up Artist) invest in your shoot, hire a stylist to coordinate your style for the day, save up to do the shoot right.

Marv
What’s a ball park figure price an artist should be ready for a quality pictures?

Christina
Depending on the photographer, location, and style of shoot a good photographer starts at $350 for a portrait session.

Marv
What are you somethings the artist should look for  when trying to find someone a photographer?

Christina
1.    Does the photographer have the style I am looking for?
2.    Are they fun to work with?
3.    Do they have a studio location or a place available for the shoot?
4.    Is there previous work pleasing to there eyes

Marv
What are some of quality cameras artist should pay attention to when searching?

Christina
It’s not about the quality of the camera as much as it is about the quality of the lens the photographer use. In the digital age everyone wants the latest and greatest. More than anything you should as the photographer what series of lenses are they using. You can use a Canon Mark 5 DIII with a terrible stock lens and get grainy photos.

Marv
If someone want to get in contact about visual. How can they do so?

Any last words for the readers?

Christina

Invest in your craft full circle it pays off in the long run. Make sure that the field you are venturing in is where God wants you and not just your personal desire. We see too many people get involved with a craft only to stop once life gets busy or other’s don’t embarrass them how they desire. When God is in it it doesn’t matter the number of sales, how you are received or who shares your content. God provides promotion not man. Just make sure where you are supposed to be and not where you want to be.
