Marv
Juice what up my dude!

Juice
What’s going on bro. All is well.

Marv
No doubt fam. It’s been a looooooong time.

Juice
Long time indeed. So much has happened!

Marv
No doubt well before we get into what’s been going on. Can you please tell the readers who you are and what you do?

Juice
Yessir. My name is Alex ‘Juice’ Hitchens and I’m a dude who pushes buttons for a living haha. No but seriously, I’m a Grammy and Dove award winning music producer and film composer.Former Special Ed Music Therapist who quit his job in February.

Marv
How long have you been producing music?

Juice
I’ve been experimenting with music production since 10th grade, so about 13 years. But I’ve been blessed to call it a career for the past 8.

Marv
Ok… Can tell us some of the people you worked with?

Juice
Man, I’ve had the honor to create with artists, spoken wordsmiths, and even major brands. From Lecrae to Andy Mineo to Jefferson Bethke to Nike and LeBron James.

Marv
Great accomplishment! You went from producing Hip-Hop to composing for films. How did that come about?

Juice Well I grew up playing the violin. Since the age of 4, and continued through youth orchestras into   high school. So I’ve always had a familiarity with and an affinity for that particular sound. I love movies and TV shows and God really started opening doors out of nowhere. Some of the work I’ve done for Jeff Bethke and P4CM, spoken word artists, helped show people I could do it. So I really owe them a debt of gratitude for giving me the platform early on.

Marv
No doubt fam. Have you scored anything pretty big yet?

Juice
Well the Nike LeBron 13 Shoe Launch was probably my biggest gig yet. Nike gave a 72 hour turnaround and somehow it got pulled off. Really a testement about staying ready because you never know when you’ll get that phone call. My first film gig was for a short called “On the Run” shot by LA filmmaker LeRoy Davis III. Currently working on a couple TV show to be named later. So the momentum is picking up.

Marv
Wow. How did the Nike situation come about?

Juice
I’ve worked closely with this Cleveland based film company named Purple Films. We’ve done several projects together including ads for Vitamix, The Horseshoe Casino and Volkswagon. They were contacted by Nike and recommended me as someone to write the music for the piece. So I owe them a ton of thanks.

Marv
Mang that’s great bro! Those royalty checks must be nice. Lol

Juice
It’s definitely been a true blessing and provided awesome leverage to better pursue my goals. Doesn’t hurt to have gigs like that 7 months after going full time into music haha. God is faithful.

Marv
Amen bruh. How has it been for you since you left your 9 – 5

Juice
It’s gone better than I expected to be honest. Quitting the regular job was probably the scariest thing I’ve done in my life. I remember the weekend after putting in my two weeks notice, I had a panic attack straight up. Surrendering the practicality and comfort of a check every two weeks was something I wrestled with for a couple years. But thanks to some incredible friends who were living it out, I made the jump. And ironically it’s been an opportunity for me to experience God’s sufficiency all the more. It’s been a two fold blessing.

Marv
Amen bruh. Let’s talk about the weight loss. I see you have got small my dude. What’s was the reason for the change?

Juice
Nothing in particular. I just turned 30 in March and I don’t have kids yet. So I do hope to play with them some day. Really kicked Juice (ironically) and soda as part of my regular diet. Biggest factor.

Marv
Word mang I have been struggling with my weight loss. It’s hard to stay focused. Was it a struggle for you?

Juice
Not much. Fortunately my brother and father are huge into fitness and nutrition. Moving out of mom’s and no longer being within reach of her leftovers helped haha!

Marv
Lol right! What equipment are you using these days for production?

Juice
Logic Pro X all day! Maschine too for drum programming. Big fan of Omnisphere 2 as well.

Marv
I’ve Been using Logic Pro X for a while now myself. What is one thing you love about it?

Juice
Instrumentation and arrangement is cash for me. Also love the fact that it transcribes sheet music. Big for soundtracks and cinematic music!

Marv
No doubt. So what can we be expecting from you in the future?

Juice
Well I’m making the transition to LA soon. So that means more film music. But I’m also working on some pretty special pop records with majors. I’ll just leave it at that haha. But I’m always trying to get my hands into whatever I can, any genre.

Marv
No doubt famo. Any last words for the readers

Juice
Yessir. Always study as much as you create. The best athletes watch as much tape as minutes they play. Music is no different. Also always invest in yourself!! Make much of God!

Marv
Any shout outs?

Juice
To my No Chill Zone brothers. They know who they are haha. And you of course. Thank you for pioneering such good avenues like this!

Marv
Wow mang I appreciate the kind words dude. Praise God. It’s always good talking with you. And I pray the Lord’s best for you.

Juice
Likewise bro
