What up D! How are you bro?

Daniel

I’m great!

Marv

Sweet! For those that may not know you, can you please tell the reader  who you are and what you do?

Daniel

So my name is Daniel Steele and I am a producer/drummer with Humblebeast records. I am 1/2 of The Bridge which is DJ Efechto and myself.

Marv

Ok,ok… I actually seen Efechto last night backstage during sxsw.

Daniel

Dope! That’s my brotha right there! Love that dude!

Marv

Married? Kids?

Daniel

Yeah man I am happily married going on 6 years… No kids yet.

Marv

No doubt… How did you get into music production?

Daniel

Well I’ve been producing since I was very young. I think I was around 12 or 13 when I was first exposed to my first beat machine. The Boss Dr. Groove. Started rapping at around the same age and just started making beats for myself.

Now that I think about it. That drum machine was horrible lol!

Marv

It was… lol

What Artists have you had the pleasure working with?

Daniel

So I’ve worked with Conquest, Braille, Lecrae, Jackie Hill Perry, Eshon Burgundy, Foreknown, Alert , Todd Bangz and Bang Theory, Storytellas ect.

Through  the years it’s been so many artist I can’t even remember.

Marv

I definitely feel that bro. Btw Bangz is my guy. How did you connect with Humble Beast?

Daniel

So in late 2012 I met DJ Efechto in Staten Island, NY while he was on a tour date with Propaganda. We ended up performing at the same event that Sunday. He heard me during sound check and was like….. Who the heck are you! And the rest is history. Honestly…. It was God linking us together. And to think that I almost didn’t go to that event.

Marv

I know Courtland Urbano produces for the label as well.  How is it working with him?

Daniel

I love working with him! He’s super creative and always motivates me to take my music to another level. Plus he’s just an all around awesome person.

Marv

Congrats on Eshon’s album you definitely did a great job. How was it working with him?

Daniel

Thanks bro! Working with him was great. He was real easy going. We worked really hard at creating a sound that was fresh for him but still classic Eshon feel.

Marv

Whats your process in the studio?

Daniel

So my process starts with my drums. And then bass line. That’s the most important part of the track for me. I spend a lot of time digging for and recording my drums. I’m sort of a drum addict. Then the rest of the track I sit at a piano and start writing melody and designing stuff with synths and other resources. Sometimes I create a sample from scratch, mix it down to a wav file and chop it up. That takes a lot of time though .

Marv

That’s dope! Whats your take on Christian Emcee’s or Producers working with secular cats?

Daniel

That’s a tricky question lol! Well to me it’s always been about the content. If I feel a conviction from God not to be part of something, I won’t do it. I’m not trying to compromise my walk for a fat check. But that’s just me. Others might disagree with me though.

Marv

Agreed, I have talks with producers  about that topic all the time. And some agree and some don’t. What can we be expecting from you in the future?

Daniel

More heat! Lol! Nah seriously though. Gonna be working on something special to put out real soon. In the meanwhile you can check out my Instagram where I share my process and fellowship with Humblebeast.

Marv

Any last words?

Daniel

Lol! Not really ! There’s so much I could talk about when it comes to production! But we ain’t got time like that. Thanks for having me on! I always enjoy chopping it up about production and creativity in general!

Marv

No doubt fam. Thank you getting up with me.

Daniel

Anytime bro!
