Interview With JLuv

OL

Whats happening JLuv?! First…thank you for getting up with me.

JLuv
Thanks for having me, im very honored.

OL
Could you introduce yourself to the readers? Who is JLuv and what does he do?

JLuv
My name is Joseph Love, and I go by the name “JLuv”.. Im 29 years old,
coming from Kansas City, Mo. Ive been married for 4 years and have been blessed
with a beautiful 1 year daughter.

OL
How long have you been producing for?

JLuv
Ive been producing for a little over 10 years, but didn’t really start taking it seriously
until my college years. I was always surrounded by people who where so driven and passionate with doing music to the point that their passion rubbed off on me. The more I stayed around them, the better I became, and the more serious I took myself.

OL
How did you get into production?

JLuv
I got into production in high school, I was introduced to it by one of my friends..
When I first seen him making beats, it looked like something that was too technical and
hard to do Lol…but after a few tries, I fell in love with it.

OL
Who are your influences musically or in production?

JLuv
My influences are producers such as Kanye West, Timberland, 9th Wonder, and Just Blaze…
I just admire and respect their originality as producers..They always push their selves musically to sonically stand out from the crowd.

OL
Who have you’ve worked with?

JLuv
Ive been blessed and honored to work with several artist in the CHH industry..artist such as Da Truth, J-Son, The Ambassador, R-Swift, Viktory, Gods Servant, Pastor Ad3, Chris Cobbins, Tory Starks A.K.A Future.. and several very talented local artist such as B.Harris, JusB, and Sauce Remix to name a few.

OL
What do you use to produce? Do you ever find yourself working with limitations
with certain hardware or do you think we are in a space where we dont have limits?

JLuv
My production arsenal includes Logic Pro 9 and Fl Studio, and depending on what im trying to achieve with my beat, ill chose what daw to use between the two. I honestly don’t feel limited, I think I have all I need to produce good quality music. Just as long as I have good sounds, a computer and a daw to work on im good to go. I absolutely think we are in a space where we don’t have limits, you don’t need the hi-tech expensive equipment to produce good records…all we need is a computer and software of choice, then add a little passion, a vision, and imagination to create great music.

OL
What is your process in the studio?

JLuv
For the most part I go by how im feeling at the time, so if I feel hype or excited, ill make a track that matches that emotion. Im a drummer at heart, so usually I start off with drums before I add anything else, and throughout the track, ill sometimes adjust the pattern of the drums to better compliment the composition that ive added to the track.

OL
Any artist you want to or plan on working with?

JLuv
Man theres so many I would love to work with, im a hip hop head, so on top of the list would be all the collision records artist. I love the new age hip hop sound that they have, which truly stands out in CHH. Also, I would love to work with the Reach Records artist… mainly Lecrae and Andy Mineo.

OL
What can expect from you in the future?

JLuv
Currently working on albums with several artist, a few national and local..Also, im working on a music production website that’ll be complete very soon.

OL
Orale JLuv, thank you for taking the time do this interview! Stay blessed!

JLuv
