Interview With MPax
Maybe you mean: 'main slider'
What up Mpax! Thanks for taking the time to do this interview bruh!
No problem bro.
Could you introduce yourself to the readers? Who are you and what do you do?
My name is Mpax, pronounced like the word (IMPACTS) and I am a music producer.
How long have you been producing for and part of the Rek City crew?
I been producing for 11 years now and I actually am the one that founded Rekcity alongside
my partner Frank Cage in 2007.
How did you get into production and how did Rek City come alive?
I started back in 2004 in a friend’s home studio, I had no idea what the setup was but I
know I loved music. I currently play the sax so music has always been in my blood. I was
curious of what they created music with and just watching them work in something called
“Fruity Loops” which every producer knows what that infamous program is. As the years past
I started getting involved in CHH and saw the need of how the genre lacked many of the
elements of visual communication and displaying of its product. That’s when Frank Cage came
into the picture, he was God sent. He saw the vision and we ran with it.
Thats dope! Who have you worked with both production wise and as a musician playing the
Most latest track I have worked on was KB’s “Ima Just Do It” featuring Bubba Watson on his
“Tomorrow We Live” project…Joseph Prielozny and I produced the track. Also produced Canon’s
“Dreams” featuring Tony Tillman for his Loose Canon V2…Sax work…I have played on B Cooper’s “While The City Sleeps” track called “Better Days” and released my own sax project called “Mpax on The Sax” which you can listen to on Rapzilla. Also on a few unreleased projects which I am unable to announce. Also worked on tracks on Selah Tha Corner “Hoodie Season 2”.
Its cool to hear a unique instrument like the sax in hip hop. Live instrumentation is
always nice to hear! What do you use to make em bangers?
My main to programs are Logic 9 and Reason.
What is your process in the studio?
Pray, Get the Main Melody in my head put on the canvas, lay the drums, lay out the track
structure and additional sounds I find fit and finally mix.
Are there any artists you plan to or would like to work with?
Andy Mineo, Lecrae, Gemstones, Christon Gray, Justin Timberlake…
What can we expect from you in the future? Whats next for Rek City?
What you can expect is hopefully to keep making great music and continue to put my best
foot forward. Planning to work on “Mpax on the Sax 2”. Rekcity city, we are setting ourselves up to create a great product for the music genre.
Alrighty Mpax, muchas gracias por su tiempo! Peace and much success to you and the Rek City
crew. Shout outs 2 Kyren and A.G.!
