Halo Hitz

What’s good bro!

OB
Whats Good big bro!

Marv

First off thank you guys for getting up with me. It made sense to interview you both since you are with the same team. Lol

OB
Its an honor bro.

Halo Hitz
Yessir. We appreciate you taking time to.

Marv
No doubt. For those who may not be familiar with you guys, can you tell the readers who you are and what you do?

OB
My name is OB AKA OnBeatMusic. Producer from San Antonio TX. Representing Team Die Daily and Unit 10-56 Andy Mineo Remix competition winner, 2014 Rapzilla Beat Battle Champion, Producer credits: Bizzle, Selah The Corner, Dillon Chase, Hee Sun Lee, Kadence, Sicily, Primisis, and too much more to name lol.

Halo Hitz
I’ve been making beats since ’03, joined Air Tight Productions with Kadence in ’06, went full time in 2012. Worked with Tedashii, KB, Dillon Chase, Princeton, Cam, FLO etc.. Met OB thru Sicily 2 years ago and we just really have good musical chemistry.

Marv
Ok… Married? Kids?Halo Hitz
Married with two little girls ages 4 and 2.

OB
Not married yet and no kids yet either.

Marv
How did you get into production and what did you start on as far as tools?

Halo Hitz
A guy in my Trigonometry class showed me his beats and I was hooked. Fruity Loops 3 and midi controller. Lol.

OB
When I was in high school, I used to bang on the tables a lot. One of my friends came over to the table and started to rap, after he was done he said “Yo, you’d be a dope producer!” I said, “Oh dope…. Whats that?” Lol, he invited me over and showed me FL Studio 6 and I learned from there. Started with a laptop, demo of FL Studio 6, and some iPod headphones.

Marv
Dope! So both of you guys use FL Studio. In your opinion, what makes FL so unique?

OB
In all honesty? The producer. Any Daw could be used to make a good solid beat, its on the producer to be unique. Halo and I so happen to use FL Studio and that’s where we learned the most and that where I at least feel the most comfortable. I know Halo uses Maschine as well and I think Logic too which are the next 2 Daw’s I wanna learn.

Marv
I understand it being the producers but there gotta be something that you really like about.

Halo Hitz
I like the drum programming in it. It’s easy to bend 808’s too.

OB
Yea Bending the 808s is probably my favorite.

Marv
See I don’t use FL but I like the 808 bending which no other programs can do.

Halo Hitz
Yea I think it’s a must have for beat makers to stay current with the sound of today.

OB
And its only getting better and better.

Marv
Halo you said you all connected thru Sicily. What made yall decide to come together as a team?

Halo Hitz
Sicily tagged us in a post. We collabed on a couple tracks and they turned out crazy! I was apart of Air Tight with Kadence and we talked about us 3 creating a team. OB joined Die Daily and we decided to have a production team and named it Unit 10-56. The 10-56 is the police code for suicide so that’s how it ties in to Die Daily.

Marv
Sweet. What is you guys process when collabing? What are your strong points when working with each other?

OB
Basically Halo starts with all the melodies and then sends them to me to knock out the drums, 808s, fx, and Vox loops. Halo is amazing with melodies

Marv
O you play drums right?

OB
Yessir, been playing since I was 10.

Marv
Ok. What is your take on cracked software. Have you ever is used it?

Halo Hitz
Man honestly I used cracked software for years… Then I heard a sermon that KB did and it changed my whole mentality on it. Now I’m trying to get everything legal and support the companies that help us make the music we do. It’s tough to not think you need all these different plug-ins to keep up with everybody but God will provide for you when you do His will. So now I’m tryin to stay away from cracked versions. S/O to KB for activating my conscience. Lol.

Marv
No doubt. Another tough question. What y’all take on working with secular artists?

OB
To put it simple I don’t because of personal convictions and believe it is based on personal convictions.

Halo Hitz
I used to be completely against working with anyone that wasn’t making Christian music. But I witnessed a close friend, who was a video grapher, work with secular artists on videos and he’d invite them to Bible study and one of them not only became a believer but started doing Christian rap! That blew my mind and made me really think “Who am I witnessing to through my gift?” So now I have a different mindset where I will work with all kinds of people. Be a light in the darkness and get out of my comfort zone.

Marv
No doubt. Is there any artists you guys would like to work with?

OB
Andy and S.O. just because they’re my top 2 favorite MC’s.

Marv
What about you Halo?

Halo Hitz
Lecrae, Andy Mineo, Derek Minor, Dee-1, Lupe Fiasco, Eminem, J. Cole, Sean C. Johnson *cough cough* and many others lol..

Marv
What can we expect from you guys in the future?

Halo Hitz
Work with Clearsight and RMG. Also, I’m going to be executive producing 3 projects.

Marv
You O?

OB
I’m about drop an E. P. with a rapper friend mine thits called Wandering Star. I produced every track on that project. Plus I’m producing like 3 projects for various other artists this year.

Marv
Cool any last words for the readers?

Halo Hitz
Consistency, consistency, consistency. But if you have a family don’t work so much they feel neglected. Hard work pays off!

OB
Keep working hard and never stop learning. You never what know God is going to do.

Marv
No doubt thank you guys for getting up with me. I appreciate it.

Halo Hitz
Thank YOU fam!!

OB
Thank Big BRO!
