What up Phill! Thanks for taking the time to do this interview! I appreciate it!

Phill
You are very welcome sir.

OL
Can you tell the readers who you are and what you do?

Phill
Sure thing. I am a believer in Christ first and foremost. I am a family man and a pastor of a church in the inner city of a midwest city called Rockford, IL. I also am a music producer/blogger and entrepreneur.

OL
Chitown! How long have you been producing for?

Phill
Man i’ve been making beats for a long time. Since the 90’s back when cats like Scar face, Bone Thugs and the Chronic was out! That was a long time ago. In 2001 I stopped doing music for a short period of time to focus on my new young family once I got married. I just started back up in 2012 with my online beat production and marketing stuff.

OL
Oh snap so you have been doing this for a long time now! I would imagine a lot of things changed since then beat wise. Gear…..and how you got about selling beats. May I ask how did you get into producing?

Phill
Yes sir indeed. A whole lot has changed. I’ve been through the difference beat machines and samplers man. lol! A lot of that stuff I have gotten rid of with the exception of my old Akia and Ensoniq samplers I don’t use them anymore but I still can’t seem to bring myself to get rid of them lol. Yes I agree that the music has changed so much. How did I get into producing? Welll, I always had a love for music since a child. There were a couple guys in my church and other church around my area that really took me under their wing when I was about 13 and really started to teach me how to program and produce beats.

OL
I wish I could learn how to use an akai drum machine and ensoniq keyboards! Be dope to know how to use them things! May I ask who have you worked with?

Phill
I have worked mainly with artists from around the world that that visit my website for beats. I haven’t worked with any current premier artists as of yet but I know that day will come soon.

OL
In due time! God will open doors! What do you use to make beats?

Phill
My main tools are Logic pro and Maschine. I have pretty much used them all but those are my go to daws as far as making beats.

OL
Maschine is that new new! How do you go about making a track? What is your process in the studio?

Phill
Every thing I do starts with a feeling and it really depends on what type of track that I am looking to make at the time. I am a keyboard and bass player so I usually start with a bass melody then I add the chords and from there I start laying down the drum elements.I also like to go through my sound libraries and find different sounds that might spark an idea!

OL
Bet! Theres nothing like getting new sounds to get inspired as well! Any artists you would want or plan on working with?

Phill
Yes absolutely, I would love to work with Bizzle! I appreciate his solid and clear message, his flow and music selection is always very musical and dope for every track that he is on in my opinion! If he called on me to do some work it would be a no brainer for me. lol!

OL
Bizzle is a dope mc, the GOM roster though has some great artists too! What can we expect from you in the future?

Phill
I’m going continue to provide value for the indie artists the are seriously looking to make a name for themselves. I plan on launching a team that helps producers like myself and those that are just getting started how to have a successful beat selling business online. My core vision: is to help 100+ Kingdom minded recording artists, beat makers and entrepreneurs to reach a 5 to 6 figure income annual!

OL
Alrighty thanks for chopping it up with me!

Phill
Omar, I really appreciate the opportunity also. It really means a lot!
